Gather your sponsors, bring your friends, bring your family and bring your dog! We’re walking to support Dads in Distress, an organisation that makes an enormous difference in the lives of men in crisis and their families.

Dads in Distress is a not for profit, community based organisation, dedicated to reducing the incidence of male suicide and self harm resulting from the stress of relationship and family breakdown.

As the first port of call to the DIDS support groups, their phone help line literally saves lives. DIDS staff took well over 4000 calls in 2009, with the average call lasting 40 minutes. These are more than simple enquiries; they are calls from men in crisis who desperately need help from someone who understands what they are going through. With no government funding, the 1300 number operates precariously from day to day and week to week from a pool of donations. We aim to make that pool much bigger!

Registered walkers can join us after their walk for a free BBQ to relax, refuel and make new friends.

What to bring: Comfortable walking clothes and footwear, sunscreen, a positive, friendly attitude, your business cards – and as many sponsorships for your walk as you can find.

Networking 4 Charities provides new opportunities for social, business and community interaction. Along with guided, effective social and business networking, every Networking 4 Charities function also raises funds and awareness for small charities without large marketing budgets.

JULY FASHION PARADE AND NETWORKING EVENT

Beautiful clothes for beautiful women are on offer from us in July!

Baraka and Networking 4 Charities will be hosting a fabulous fashion and networking event on 21 July 2010 to support the St John of God Hospital Mother and Baby Unit at Burwood. Baraka clothes are an elegant fusion of the Islamic and Western worlds in which the designers, Kath Fry and Eisha Saleh, live.

Following the parade featuring gorgeous Baraka designs, you have the opportunity to purchase any item you have fallen in love with on the catwalk. A percentage of all clothing sales on the night, along with all net profits raised from tickets, raffles and donations, will go to our selected charity.

Our target for this event is to raise $4,000 to fund an additional baby bassinet as well as refurbish the babies’ play room with a new lounge, paint, cupboards and window covers.

At our events, we'll provide: hosts to introduce you to a range of fascinating people, speakers, networking tips, delicious canapés and wine and the opportunity to pick up some great prizes and donated goods and services at a bargain price.

What to bring: lots of business cards, a positive, friendly attitude, your ear out for opportunities, your eye out for a bargain - and the charitable you.
